Christmas Miracles

OH MY GOSH!!! Thank you to whoever dropped this off. We cannot explain how grateful we are! We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends in our lives. I hope that someday, somehow, we can return this miracle to you.
God bless you, and THANK YOU!!

Merry Christmas

Fordham Christmas

We had Christmas early this year because Gerry is going to be out of town next weekend and we wanted to celebrate it with him. We had a scrumptious turkey dinner, played Bunco, and than opened presents. Rocky got some bath toys and so we stuck him in the tub for a couple minutes and put bubbles in. Braelynn walked in and the second I asked if she wanted to get in, she had already stripped! They had fun in the tub together. And I didn't think it would be possible, but Rocky loves baths even more now!

Sorry for the horrible quality ... I'm hoping for a new video camera from Santa.

Surgery date

Well we found out his next surgery date! It is scheduled for February 28th. Again .. not looking forward to it. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right?!

He also has his first ear infection :( Not fun. (For anyone) The doc gave us some antibiotics, but if the infection is still there by his next appt. in 6 weeks, we'll need think about getting tubes .... so let's hope for the best on that one!

I'm excited for Christmas :) .. I don't know about Rocky, but I'M excited! Haha

Doctor's Appt.

Rocky had an appt. with Doctor Morales today. I was so surprised at how well he did! In the waiting room, he was smiling and laughing at everyone that passed by. For those of you who know him personally, you know the new sound he makes where he sucks in - yeah, he was doing that a LOT! Haha He was So loud! But I guess it's better that than crying! When Dr. Morales was checking his mouth, he just looked up at him like "What is going on and who is this weirdo, mom?" He just stared at him the whole time, and when he left he got grumpy! What's up with that.

This next surgery will be trying to form the palate. Dr. Yamashiro (the orthodontist at Primary's - the same one who made his prosthesis palate) will need to be in with Dr. Morales this time, and they will try to form the muscles together. If they aren't able to do that, with his wide palate, they will have to see him for another surgery another 9 months after. The nurse will be calling me back with a for sure date but we have to work with Dr. Y's schedule too so it'll either be January 30th or February 28th.

Not looking forward to this surgery.

Picture update!

I figured I should probably update ... :) I just put some pics up for now, will explain them later (when I don't have a baby in my arms)

His post-op appt. was yesterday. Dr. Morales said he looks really good. He took the suture out of his nose so we were able to take the tubes out for the day. He looks SO GOOD! I cannot believe how different he looks. And So handsome! He is such a patient little guy, I love him so much. He needs to keep that in as much as possible, although no one has found an efficient way to do so. The bottom picture is what we came up with. We put an needle and fishing line through the "whiskers" and taped it to his cheeks. It's still not all the way in, but it sure is better than it was. We also need to rub his scar with Vitamin E oil for a minute twice a day. He loves that ....

...It's true :)

Recovery

He is actually recovering faster than normal, I think. His stitches look really good, can bearly even see that they're there anymore. He is, however, having troubles eating and staying asleep. We have tried different nipples, different temperatures, different techniques, etc. We finally got some pedialyte and he loved the sweetness of that -- too bad it's so darn expensive! We also tried formula, and the bottles that he DOES end up getting down him have been the formula bottles. So maybe he is just sick of breast milk ..??? Yeah, i've never heard of it either! Ha, but who knows with this stinker.
Just a couple days after surgery. He had a black eye for a few days :(
I took one side of his "bow" off to replace the tape ... he looks so good!

Ever since surgery, we've been pulling his hands away from his face-he is now very careful about where his hands are. It's the cutest thing ever. He's also started to looove his blankets. He always snuggles up to them like this, it's adorable.
Haha We still have fun with him, even (or especially...) when he's all drugged up ;)

Home!

We came home last night, about 9:30. The nurse said his urine output numbers looked ok, and he looked good so she was fine with him leaving. I just slept with him in my arms all night and we both slept 100% better than the night before. He is still a little fussy and you can tell he hurts a little, but thank heaven for medicine!!

Morning after surgery .. it was a looooong night

Getting ready to go home!
Black eye :(
